Short Biography

Bashar Afif Issa is a Professor of Physics and Chair of the Department of Medical Diagnostic Imaging, College of Health Sciences, University of Sharjah, since September 2018. He contributed to the establishment of Medical Physics program in the University of UAE 1998 – 2018. He received his Bachelor (Joint Honours in Electronic Engineering & Mathematics, 1987) and PhD (Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1993) degrees from the University of Nottingham, England. After completing his PhD studies, he continued working with his supervisor – Sir Professor P. Mansfield, Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology and Medicine, 2003 – in Quantification of Flow using PI-EPI MRI for few years before becoming an Assistant professor at Hull University, Hull, and Senior Physicist, Centre of MRI, Hull Royal Infirmary, Hull, England. He has fifty peer reviewed journal articles and many conference contributions, in addition to supervising few PhD and MSc theses. He has been a member of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine since 1992.
