Short Biography
Ümit Demir is Professor of Chemistry and the Director of Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences at the Gebze Technical University. He received his PhD from Auburn University in USA 1996 after graduating from Atatürk University in Turkey. Prior to joining Gebze Technical University, Ümit Demir was Professor at the Chemistry Department and served as the Director of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences and the Dean of Sciences Faculty in Atatürk University. His research interests currently focus on synthesis of nanomaterials for solar energy conversion and storage (photoelectrochemical cells, DSSC, QDSSC, batteries supercapacitors), electrochemical sensors, electrocatalysis, and electrochemical synthesis of graphene and graphene oxide-based nanocomposites.
